Spartan Cybersecurity Club
We are a group of students at Michigan State pursuing ethical
hacking and cybersecurity skills by taking part in competitions
like Capture The Flag events. We also organise workshops and
events to introduce others to the underappreciated world of
cybersecurity and create a fun community at MSU led by the
curiosity to explore tech and take everything apart.

🏴 The
embedded cybersecurity competition
is an annual semester-long CTF run by
MITRE Corporation. It is an
attack-defense CTF which makes participants dive into cryptography and
embedded firmware, and design a secure system that holds up to attack
against other universities. MSU students have been taking part in the eCTF since 2022!
eCTF 2025
In the 2025 eCTF, teams designed and implemented a Satellite TV system. The system had to securely encode and decode satellite TV data streams while protecting against unauthorized access to protected channels.
eCTF 2024
In 2024, the objective was to design firmware for a medical device consisting of three boards - an application processor and two auxillary components which would model devices like an insulin pump.
